Kerrie Update for April 23, 2014

Kerrie’s immune system and vital signs continue to improve today as we move into this new phase of her recovery.

As noted in yesterday’s update, Kerrie’s condition has improved to the point that she is no longer in imminent life threatening danger from infection or other complications.  We are thrilled that she has recovered to this point but understand that she has a long road ahead of her as she recovers neurologically.

We have been advised by Kerrie’s medical team and experts in the field that her neurological recovery will likely take weeks and that we must be patient as she is gradually weaned off of supportive care.  Based on results of testing done so far and the opinions of our expert advisory team we remain cautiously optomistic for her full recovery.

She is currently breathing mostly on her own but remains primarily in an unconscious state right now.  She will interact with medical staff and visitors on occasion with some eye contact and limited gestures.  We are seeing some signs of improvement and we understand that she’ll need time to fully recover.  We will keep you updated as she continues to recover.

We remain very grateful for all your overwhelming support, love and concern.

Sincerely,

The Prettitore, Moore and Matteo Families
